Ontario Fishing & Hunting Camp on Troutbait Lake - Enjoy Fishing, Hunting, Ice Fishing, Snowmobiling & ATV

Over our years here at Opimika Wilderness Cottages, all the cottages, plus our house had the electricity supplied by a generator system. This is a non-renewable energy source which requires gasoline and oil to operate. With the change to solar, we have reduced our carbon footprint by eliminating the need for gasoline. Now our clients can enjoy 24hr electricity supplied by the solar system and hear the sounds of nature without the constant noise from the generator. We are proud and happy to have made this environmentally friendly switch to renewable energy, and we hope our client, old and new will enjoy the change as much as we do.

Outpost Cottage:

The outpost cottage is located on Emerald Lake and as the name suggests the water is a beautiful, clear emerald green.   You have the privacy and the luxury of being the only cottage on the lake.   Sit on the deck and enjoy the sun or lay on the sandy beach.  The outpost is a fully equip cottage which is also solar powered with a back up generator.  A full kitchen with all the appliances, dishes and utensils.  A clean 3 piece bathroom and the outpost can sleep up to 12 people.   If water-skiing is your pleasure, bring your boat, you are the only people on the lake.  If fishing is your pleasure the lake is your playground.  If you do not have a boat or motor we can also supply them at a daily rate.

The Camps:

The camps are used mostly in the hunting season or for large groups year round.  They can accommodate up to 16 people.   They are dry and clean with a large common area that can seat all the hunters after a good day in the bush.  A wood stove offers to take the chill off and the fully equipped kitchen is set up for all your needs.  Dishes, glasses, cups, cutlery etc. are all supplied.  A clean 3 piece bathroom is inside each camp as well as access to a clean outhouse, for the more traditional.

Cottages:

Your cottage is located on the shore of Troutbait Lake.  Opimika is the only establishment on the lake.

All the cottages are supplied electricity thru our solar power system and the running water is supplied thru a gravity feed system.  You have a full view of the lake from your cottage.  We offer cottages that have 2 to 7 bedrooms.  They can accommodate 2 to 16 people.  The kitchens are fully equipped with all the dishes, appliances and cutlery you need to prepare your family meals.  The old refrigerators have all been replaced with brand new Energy Star rated ones, to compliment the solar power system.  The bathrooms are clean with a sink, shower and toilet.  Some of the larger cottages also have a bathtub.  Guests are required to bring their own  linens for the beds and their own towels.  If you happen to forget, we can supply items for a laundering charge.
